Road Gloria

(The Novel)

I just read Road Gloria and it is great.

It is not just a nice story to read as entertainment, it actually offers insight in life. I had a lot of deeper realisations whilst reading this book and I love that.

Road Gloria is a modern parable filled with ageless wisdom.

The novel follows the life of Margaret, who is successful by all accounts yet finds herself somewhat stuck in life and a marriage that is not living up to its fairytale beginnings.

A chance meeting with an old school friend Leo introduces her to the ageless wisdom and The Way of The Livingness. It is an approach to life that has been with us for eons but is rarely lived in full.

We are all on our own Road Gloria. It is a deeply personal path and one that we each walk with varying levels of awareness, grace and appreciation for the fact that there is more to life than the day to day.

It can be both miraculous and mundane, either way it is our road to walk.

A 'could not put it down until it was finished' kind of novel this was the kind of book that you want to buy more copies of to gift and share the magic with others.

"I got a copy of Road Gloria when I was laid up in bed with a dreadful flu and could barely move. I started to read and was enthralled from the start. There is something magical and relatable about this story.

As it unfolds so does our understanding that there is much more going on in life than we care to imagine. I experienced many moments of deep realisation and appreciation, having gone through a similar discovery myself.  Joel is a master of composition and writes with an authority on the first tentative steps to discovering that the way things are, need not be the way things remain."Lee (Australia)

I just finished Road Gloria. I absolutely loved it. Packed full of truth and a great story.

Plenty of golden nuggets to inspire and ponder on and bring into ones own life. A deep wisdom is offered here that we all have access to.

I recommend the read.

From somewhere along the road...

... Crouched in the shower, Margaret was still shaking from the force of the verbal assault that had just taken place. She searched within for what had gone wrong; she knew something had to change but all she could think about was what else she needed to do to make James happy, where she had to ‘step things up’.

‘How could all the money, status, dedication to the kids and community leave her feeling so empty, useless and trapped?
‘How could an intelligent, articulate person feel reduced to a fragile shell with a few well-placed words?’

The thoughts swirled around in her head. ‘Maybe he was right, maybe she was not doing enough, maybe she was being too hard on him,’ maybe, maybe, maybe ...

Noticing the time, she quickly pulled herself together to complete the morning school run. Forcing her body to get moving, finding a well-selected outfit and taking some extra time with make-up, the foundation placing a veneer over what lay beneath. With a first and second glance in the mirror, she smoothed her dress with her palm, making sure she looked the part and headed downstairs to round up the kids, grabbing a drive-through coffee on the way to school and before long she was into the day.

Committee meetings, grocery shopping, touching base with her parents, his parents, talking to friends about an upcoming holiday. There was always plenty to do and from the outside it all looked fine. Yet, on the inside, the morning’s exchange was still playing on loop in her mind, coupled with an inner voice that kept saying, ‘maybe this is all there is, maybe this is the way life is meant to be.’ ....

I love reading anything written by Joel Levin, it always has a touch of humour and there are often deep learnings presented in delightfully simple ways.

Joel Levin is a master storyteller but like a parable every story has a purpose and offers the reader a depth of wisdom.
